Doug Rau, the standout left-handed starting pitcher who was a mainstay of the Los Angeles Dodgers rotation during the 1970s. Drafted 7th overall in 1970 out of Texas A&M, Doug Rau won 81 games over a nine-year career, contributing significantly to the Dodgers' National League pennant-winning teams in 1974, 1977, and 1978. Known for his exceptional control and durability, his best season came in 1976 when he posted a 2.57 ERA—the second-lowest in the National League that year. Though his career was shortened by a rotator cuff injury in 1979, he remains a significant figure in Dodgers history, perhaps most famously remembered for a heated, mic'd-up mound argument with manager Tommy Lasorda during the 1977 World Series.
