The 1977 Topps #240 Ron LeFlore card features one of baseball's most inspiring success stories. After being discovered by Detroit Tigers manager Ralph Houk while playing on a prison baseball team, LeFlore made an extraordinary rise to the Major Leagues, becoming one of the fastest and most exciting players of his era. Known for his blazing speed and aggressive style of play, he developed into an outstanding leadoff hitter and elite base stealer. During his nine-year Major League career with the Detroit Tigers, Montreal Expos, and Chicago White Sox, LeFlore collected 1,283 hits, posted a .288 career batting average, and stole 455 bases. He earned an American League All-Star selection in 1976 and later led the National League with an impressive 97 stolen bases in 1980, becoming the first player in the modern era to lead both the American and National Leagues in stolen bases.
