Description

1900 Liberty V-Nickel Coin in Fair condition, see photos. The 1900 Liberty Head "V" nickel serves as a classic, historic anchor to the turn of the 20th century, representing a time of massive industrial growth in the United States. Designed by Charles E. Barber, Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint, the coin features a striking left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty wearing a coronet inscribed with "LIBERTY" on the obverse, surrounded by 13 stars, while the reverse prominently features the Roman numeral "V" nestled inside an elegant wreath of corn, wheat, and cotton. Struck at the main Philadelphia mint facility with a composition of 75% copper and 25% nickel. While heavily circulated examples are generally affordable, specimens that have escaped the friction of commerce to retain their original mint luster, sharp details on Liberty’s braided hair, and crisp definition on the reverse wreath elements command a significant premium, especially when crossing into elite uncirculated grades of MS-65 or higher.
